PACAKGE:

Some of the main objectives in the design of the Elipse, have been making a good use of the little space available on the scooter and the mass-centralization. Having started from scratch, has allowed us to distribute the electrical components intelligently maximizing the limited space available.

Perhaps the biggest challenge has been to place the 45 kg and 4,6 kWh battery pack in the lower area of the motorcycle, while maintaining the foot platform substantially flat without adversely affecting the ergonomics or without excessively reducing the ground clearance. The aim of placing the battery pack out there is to take down the center of gravity as much as possible, and also is to make room enough in the storage space under the seat for a full face helmet. A scooter must be especially practical so besides the spacious trunk under the seat, the Elipse has a front glove compartment for storing small items.

Another big component we had to find an adequate place, was the on-board charger. Because the Ellipse has the motor in the rear wheel and it doesn’t need any transmission system, we were able to put this charger in the middle of the swingarm (but fixed to the chassis as an unsprung mass), very close to the scooter’s cog helping to obtain a good mass centralization and improving the dynamic performance of the motorcycle.
